We manufacture a silky soft, tropical strength insect repellent lotion in 27 fabulous scents using fresh heirloom taro that is authentically processed. NON- GMO ingredients and Keiki (children) safe. The effective ingredient is the kale'ai. The Hawaiians have been using kale'ai for generations to protect the skin of the keiki or young children from mosquitoes and the UV rays of the sun, as they worked in the taro patches. Citronella and essential oils sprays evaporate due to their volatile nature and required reapplication.

Formulated by and tested on people who characterize themselves as “being a veritable luau for mosquitoes”. Our lotion is made from unrefined tree nuts and seeds ground into butters and oils and then emulsified with the kale'ai. All of our lotion formulas use fresh Makaweli taro that has been grown in the same lo'i (taro patches) by the same ohanas (families) of Mahi'ai or farmers for many generations. Processing the taro or kalo is a long and hot process and if not done properly you will have scratchy skin! Smoky Valley Lotions brings this authentic formula to the market for the first time in Hawaiian history. And because this is a lotion it is absorbed into the skin without evaporating like essential oil sprays will. The result is a long lasting AKA affordable way to safely repel insects while leaving the skin very soft.
