The Seatbelt Release Protector is a mom-invented clip that covers the RED "Release" button on a vehicle seatbelt that is holding an infant or toddler's carseat in place. It prevents another back seat passenger (parent, grandparent, child sibling, etc) from unknowingly unbuckling the seatbelt that is holding the baby's car seat in place. It works with forward or rear-facing car seats and carrier bases and should not be used in conjunction with the LATCH system.
This product is inexpensive (Retails for less than $10.00), easy to install and remove in case of emergency, and fits most vehicles. The seatbelt release protector is not a life saving device and should be used as a deterent only. The seatbelt release protector is sold in a 2 PACK as most families have either more than one vehicle or more than one carseat. As well, most parents check to make sure that the baby is strapped securely into the carseat but because carseats can be bulky and may cover the actual seatbelt buckle, parents/caregivers often don't realize it when the seatbelt has become unbuckled, and the carseat is no longer secured in the vehicle.
