The Kayak Kaboose is a water tight storage container that can be easily towed behind a watercraft to increase baggage capacity. The Kaboose is targeted toward kayakers, due to the limited amount of storage capacity available within the kayak itself, but can also be utilized by canoeists, and hunting and fishing enthusiasts and possible flood relief tool for flood ravaged areas worldwide.
The features of the Kaboose include:
1. 100% water tight – field tested
2. Minimal drag – kayak enthusiasts that tested the product felt that there was little to no drag. The master boat builder, Skip Izon, who built the Kaboose first prototype, also built the two person Rowing Skulls which won 1996 Olympic Gold medal for Canada.
3. 6’ in length X 2’ wide X 1’ deep.
4. Stores up to 138 liters
5. Low profile resulting in minimal wind resistance
6. Unique harness system allows for easy maneuverability and safety including:
a. ability to “quick release” the Kaboose from the kayak
b. no interference to paddler when the kayak is rolled
7. Potential for “add-on’s” in the future, ie: solar panels, strobe light, detachable wheels for ease of portaging, emergency transponder, etc.
A Patent application is pending in Canada and the U.S. patent has been granted on the product.
