Everyone has dreamed of owning their own business at one time or another. In this board game, 2 players behave as entrepreneurs and work as a team to form a DUOpoly to dominate a business industry around the board (while competing against other 2 player teams or DUO's). Industries around the board include, real-estate, food, sports, arts, music, dance, fashion and more. HOPE and SUPPORT Cards ensure the cash continues to flow, and businesses provide support for one-another and the community.

In this board game of DUOpoly, 2 players operate as a DUO and try to dominate a business industry, when they each own only 1 property each in a given industry around the board. (Sounds easy, but you and your partner must land there first to own a property and wait for the other player before you can become a DUOPLY). Even if 3 businesses are shown on the board, the DUO still only needs to own only 2) There are multiple ways to play, however, the primary way to play is that DUOs cannot be formed until your partner purchases the other business in the same industry as you landed on and purchased. Once the DUO is formed partners share cash flow and decision-making, and all other responsibilities of operating their business when HOPE and SUPPORT cards are drawn. HOPE and SUPPORT cards direct DUO's to hire employees, pay employee cost, taxes and other common operating expenses, but also direct players to go support other businesses or to volunteer at the local boys and girls club or give to the local church; and to go to college or provide a scholarship. Instead of fixed amounts of income, the roll of the dice amount times 5 determines how much other players will pay if they land at your business for services received. So the amount varies each time on how much you pay or receive. Once employees are hired, players who land at a given business will pay 10 times the amount rolled. And when passing START, players roll the dice to see how much more cash flow is earned from fictitious online sales. (Your business needs to grow...so roll the dice to see how much more cash flow you will earn) The board (in this version) is unique as it displays the uniqueness of African-American culture, their contributions, and tells a story of African-American businesses. This board game embodies unity, support, hope and community and underscores the importance of entrepreneurship, natural talent, and dreams realized. The board design uniquely embraces african american culture, history and community, including our food, music, talents, fashion, sports and other aspirations. It takes players back to our history and allows us to look at the board and how far we've come, with fictitious businesses like "L.L. Cool Way Hip-Hop Records, Bob's Chicken 'N Waffles and The Old School Barber Shop. It tells a story ...Stories most African-Americans can identify with." (But, you don't need to be an African-American to play it.) A unity theme is also underscored in the new name DUOpoly, which encourages a shared sense of responsibility to dominate an industry as 2 players work as a team and form a DUOpoly (while competing against other 2 player teams, or DUO's). In this game, players come together, in making business decisions and in sharing cash flow responsibilities, and whatever one player does affects the other in the DUO, which eliminates a culture of a certain level of greed in competition in real property. Real Duopolies don't really exist this way, but it is a concept. Real DUOpolies actually exist that have complete control over a market industry, but share some level of cooperation. This board game intends to mimic that interdependent relationship.
DUOpoly is a New Opoly Real Property Board Game with an emphasis on African-American Culture and Black-Businesses. It is the Only Opoly Board Game with Black Businesses represented around the board which tells a story of our history. It is a fun game of real property which emphasizes entrepreneurship and community. DUOpoly is a game where players operate as a real DUOpoly to dominate a business industry. In this day and age, african-american children and families need to see both themselves and their communities in a positive light, and we need board games in general that unify us and which give us HOPE and SUPPORT. Changing the board and rules on how popular real property board games are played is a chance to rewrite history, by not only changing the design to reflect black businesses, (born out of a need for black business to support each other) but to instill a sense of community. This game adds a church and boys and girls club on the corners. (No jails here). Here we give back by going straight to the Boys and Girls Club to volunteer. (unless of course you have a temporary get out of volunteering card) and find the church as a safe place to land and give back to. "That's what our neighborhoods had," says the inventor "...someplace safe to go and someone had to volunteer to make that community program to work." (Everything from the name to the board, to the rules are about unity). And, as a nod to education, the most expensive property on the board are HSBCs and there is even a space to give to the United College Fund. ('negro' omitted on purpose). A significant key feature is naming the four unified RAILS after 4 historic black figures, including Martin Luther King, Harriott Tubman, Langston Hughes and Malcom X. These people, in one way or another, were important people in our history and couldn't be omitted.
